Petition for Economic Relief and Fair Air Transportation Costs

We, the undersigned residents of Peawanuck, Ontario, respectfully submit this petition to the Weenusk First Nation Council to formally express our collective concern regarding the exceptionally high cost of living within our community.

Due to Peawanuck's remote geographic location, air transportation is essential for passenger travel, medical access, education, employment, and the delivery of food, fuel, construction materials, and other essential goods. At present, the cost of passenger travel and air cargo services - particularly through the existing primary air carrier - has become financially prohibitive for many community members. The absence of competitive air service options has contributed to sustained high airfare and freight costs, directly impacting household affordability, food security, economic activity, and overall quality of life.

Key Concerns
* Passenger Airfare remains excessively high, limiting access to essential travel.
* Air cargo and freight costs significantly increase the price of food and necessities.
* Limited competition in air service has resulted in minimal cost relief for residents.

Community Request
we, the residents of Peawanuck, formally request that the Weenusk First Nation Council consider supporting and facilitating the introduction of North Cariboo Air as an additional airline service provider within our region. The introduction of North Cariboo Air is expected to promote fair competition, potentially reduce passenger fares and freight costs, and contribute to promote to economic relief for families, elders, workers, and businesses within the community. This initiative aligns with principles of economic fairness, shared benefit, and long term community well-being.

Request to Council
We respectfully request that the Weenusk First Nation Council:
1. Review and formally acknowledge this petition as a matter of community concern.
2. Engage with regulatory bodies regarding alternative air service options.
3. Support discussions or negotiations to allow North Cariboo Air to serve Peawanuck.
